Our chosen song is 'Mona Lisa' by Nat King Cole (1950) .We chose the song because the majority of the class were choosing modern songs from the charts so we thought it would be interesting if we added a modern twist to an old song. The music video should be targeted at an older audience as they would have listened to Nat King Cole during the 50s. However, since the younger generation have been brought up with media sites like YouTube, Cole's work has be displayed on a new platform available to anyone who chooses to watch it.
The music video will interchange between a narrative and live performance by Nat King Cole. This will appeal to both younger generations, who are used to music videos telling a story, and older generations who remember music videos featuring just the artist and their band.

our idea |
Set on a similar stage to one Nat King Cole would have performed on, a girl enters looking shy and ashamed of her appearance. make up bag sits in the centre of the stage, while a mirror stands on the left. The girl is a dancer and makes her way towards the make up bag and shakes out the contents and organises them on the floor. The girl proceeds to using each item from the bag on her face, every time manipulating her appearance. We see her self confidence increase each time she applies more make up. This is seen through body language. Throughout the video the audience see segments of Nat King Cole's original performance of 'Mona Lisa'. The video will be shot in black and white giving the video a traditional look to a conventional idea.
