TWO PEAS IN A POD
Production IDEA |
'Two Peas in a Pod ' studies the lives of two characters who grew up in the same school year, Tom Kelly and Lucy Marshell, and whether they were given equal opportunities as they approached adulthood. Now both 25, Tom Kelly is being interrogated by officer Lucy Marshell, after being arrested under suspicion of stealing from a shop till with possession of a fire arm. Tom and Lucy are the same age and went to the same secondary school although they do not remember each other. Throughout the interrogation we see flashbacks of their lives, that were very similar, and we see how the two ended up so different. They both have the same routines but are affected in different ways by their family background which shows in their educational success. We learn how Tom had to help his mother with tasks such as looking after his siblings and staying up later to wash clothes whereas Lucy had many things done for her by her parents making school life easier.

The majority of the film is in the interrogation room, which as well as the results day scene, will be shot in the studio at Henley College, while the scenes at Tom and Lucy’s houses will be filmed in my home. Scenes that are outside, such as when Tom is walking to school, will be filmed in Caversham, the village I live in.

contingency plan
To ensure my production is as successful as possible, problems faced need to be resolved. For every potential problem a back up plan is needed.
- Lighting - As I am filming in late November / early December it becomes dark very early so it is not possible to film after college as non of my scenes are at night. As I will also not be filming in lesson time, this will bring a short time frame for me to film daytime scenes in. However, I have considered filming SCENE 4 , a morning scene set around 6:30, at my house on a day after college. It will appear as a dark morning through few windows that feature in the scene.
- Actors - It is important that I work out dates with my actors so I am aware what can be filmed when. However some actors may not be able to make shoots and slow the productions progress. My film revolves around an interrogation scene, which will be set in a room in studio at The Henley College, meaning my crew and I can meet during frees to film. The only other option is to chosoe a different actor, but I am happy with who my characters are played by, and confident they will turn up to every shoot they are needed.
- Locations - There may be locations I am unable to film at due to privacy, finacial or safety issues. However, if I consider the practicality and safety of the location, the chances of me being able to film there are higher. I will confirm that I can film at each location before recording it into the location recces so no problems are faced.
- Battery - Using my equipment a lot may result in a lot of loss in battery life. To avoid prevention of filming, I should consider purchasing a second battery for my camera so the shoot isnt put on hold when it runs out. My light for my camera has 3 batteries I can easily interchange however in scenes which are filmed indoors, I will plug my light into the mains as it can run through a dc cable. This will save time as the batteries will stay charged and only be used when the shoot does not have an electrical plug socket. Battery should not be a problem for my Rode Videomic, as it has 100 hours life, but I should purchse a second battery to keep in my camera bag, incase there is a problem, otherwise my audio cannot be recorded to a good standard..
